Get ready to Jump...21 Jump Street!

I've been on an 80's fix for the past few days and have watched the entire season of 21 Jump Street's Third Season. This show also includes hot and talented Johnny Depp, who, incidently, hated the show and left after 4 season. He hated being seen as a 'teen heartthrob' but the show made him a star and he was the reason to watch.

I was and still am a huge fan of this series. I can't believe it's on DVD. I never thought I'd see the day. I'm sure you all know what show I'm talking about, but in a nutshell it was about undercover cops (Narcs, as they were also called) who went into high schools, clubs, the streets, whatever to bust kids for drugs, murder, etc.

The Jump Street Program used young cops, 2 or 3 years out of the academy, that looked like teens so they were easy to use in high school or early college situations.

In watching this season I realized that it was the third season when the show hit its stride. With some of the best episodes of the series, including the introduction of Dennis Booker (Richard Grieco) this show kicked ass for its day.

Stories about abortion, rape, racisim, and molestation wouldn't raise an eyebrow on TV today, but when we didn't really see that stuff on TV, JS did it and did it well, in some very good episodes. One especially called "Blinded By the Thousand Points of Light" The gang goes undercover on the streets to find this man who is killing homeless teen hustlers. Great writing, good acting and just an overall good story, and best of all it didn't end in a neat bow like most of the stories, which made it more real and dramatic.

Also, I forgot how ultra hot the new cop Booker (Grieco) was. I mean, he was too hot for TV and had a body that made you melt. He wasn't shirtless nearly enough. In one ep he was shirtless and wet! Ladies, prepare to swoon. I can't get a pic of him to upload, but here's one just so you can see what he looks like. Yummy!

As I was saying, this season, to me, defined the series as something other than some teen drama. It was racy, intelligent, and thought provoking, even as most of the cast were refining their acting chops on screen. Even Johnny was sharp but not deadly, but he was certainly the brightest of the bunch.

I just had to blab, watching this show took me back. WAAAAAY back! LOL

I'm recomending the series, but I think if you're so inclinded to check it out, the Third Season is the way to go.

My real blog space

While I aimed to participate in the Tour of Homes as hosted by BooMama I didn't quite show as much as those lovely folks. Please go to her blog, there are some lovely homes there to peek at. I aimed to only show where I blogged, so that's what I did, and I don't blog all over my house, or I'd be showing you my lovely laptop--which I don't own.

This is a picture of my back door as I was too lazy to go out and take a pic of the front door. This is pretty self-explanatory.

This is where I play my precious, precious Resident Evil and any other video games I decide to play. That is not all of my games, just the ones I have out, as you can see I had to display the Resident Evil box as I love that game. But some of you already know that.

This room with the terrible lighting and cramped looking quarters is my dining room. This is the Entertainment center that is terribly stuffed with records, DVDs, Video tapes, a VCR, DVD player, and Satallite receiver and collectables stacked on top. It is now that I realize that I can fit a bigger TV into that space. I have to get working on that. But then, I'd have to move all my wires and with the size TV now everything fits nicely. Still...

This is another pic with bad lighting, but this is where I blog. I have yet to decide how to organize this workspace, but for the moment it's working for me. Sort of.

This is my sister's place and where she blogs, and where I also blog when I'm scamming high speed internet. It is a much neater workspace and a much nicer office chair. That's my blog on the screen. I think you also see we share a gene for overdoing the Post-its. Heh.

Speaking of Post-Its, this is the top of my dresser. Why am I showing you this? Well, I forgot I took this pic a while ago. Those figures took me forever to put together and I wanted to display them, so I snapped a pic and found it on my camera so I included it. That guy hanging is Rasputin and the other guy is Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) And yes, that is also Yoda and Morpheus in the chair. And more DVD's, there's everywhere.

This is the view of my backyard from the top of my back porch. It looks very nice and green doesn't it. Of course, I was barefoot when I took this otherwise I would have went downstairs and taken a few others close up, alas I didn't. That table is a very old picnic table that we sometimes use to hold various stuff when we BBQ (with a tablecloth) but now it holds the tray that we put birdfood on to feed the birds.

This is Quinn and Celeste (black) on the backporch looking out of the window. That is a dresser they are sitting on. It was supposed to be thrown out years ago but made for a nice little 'perch' for the cats to look outside, so, there it stays.

This last pic is just a nice pic of Quinn. He's usually very skittish so a nice, calm pic of him is pretty rare. I like him all curled up like that. Isn't he cute?

I liked this idea of a 'Tour of Homes' I shall post some other pics later, I had a time trying to upload this off my camera. What was that so harrrrrrrrrd!!!!!?!??! ARGHHHAHHAH!! So, hopefully I'll show you something else later, I think I'll take some more pics of my collectables.

The Hitchcock Hour
I want to say that I still plan on posting a little blog post on Mimi and Phat's blogs as they were the winners of my trivia contest.. I'm working on it. It's been crazy hot here and I've been crazy lazy. :)

I get obsessed about things a lot and usually can't let them go, case in point Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I want to be buried with my DVD's. Too much information? Sorry. Anyway, I've been searching for this episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents or The Alfred Hitchcock Hour for I don't know how long; years probably. There was this episode that, I can honestly say, creeped me out so much that I'm still thinking about it so many years later as an adult.

I didn't know what the name of the ep was, all I knew was that it was in black and white so I knew it was somehere in the realm of Twilight Zone/Hitchcock. I took to the internet and some time later a guy was able to give me a title, "Where the Woodbine Twineth" I still wasn't sure that was it, but now after asking around again, I think it is. But this dogone episode is from the 60's and Netflix only has the first season (this ep is third season). I'm going to keep searching for VHS.

I'm going to tell you the part that creeped me out and the only part I remember. I remember there was a little white girl and she was living with some rich Aunt or something and someone bought her this lifesize doll that was a big as she was. The doll was black. The doll was coming to life when no adults were around, and I remember the girl was out in the yard playing with it and her uncle (?) was inside and heard two girls giggling and then we see a shot of the dolls dress skipping and playing as they play ring-around-the-rosy. Aaaaack! For some reason that scared the crap out of me.

Maybe because I had plenty of dolls as a kid, or because my sister would rearrange my little dolls and told me they came to life when I went to bed (yes I believed her, okay!? Stop laughing!) Ahem, the story has some voodoo/creole element that I don't remember, but a few people have assured me that's the ep. Well, one obsession down, 100 to go. lol

Shut up and Dance!

I am SO into "So You Think You Can Dance" this summer. I've been hooked since the auditions, and can honestly say that I barely, if at all, remember the first season. I missed an episode and don't know how that happened. I think it's because I get mixed up when they do the results show, I forget they come on twice a week. Arrgh! I was mad that I missed some dancing! I missed Travis and Heidi with the bench number. *grumble*

I liked them a lot as a couple. I think Benji has a lot of character and has a great personality. He has a pretty nice fan base on the show. I like Donyelle because she's sort of a big girl can really get down and can really dance. I like that she she kicks ass on the dance floor and isn't shy about showing skin or scared of the dances. She's great.

I also liked Ashlee (gone), Ben (gone),Musa (gone) and Aleksandra (gone). I also like Travis, who really has talent and can really dance.

I knew who was going to go in this last 'vote off' Dmitry and Martha were sure things, Dmitry can't cross over to other styles that well, but he can dance, and Martha just didn't seem to have any energy next to the other dancers. Ivan kicked her ass as a partner in hip-hop. She let the white boy out dance her in hip-hop!

I voted for Benji about 6 times, Donyelle about 5 and Travis a couple of time. I didn't want to see my Benji go.

Oh,and can I say I can't stand Mary Murphy and her horrible mouth and ugly teeth? I just wanted to get that in.

So far I liked the Krumping, the Cuban/African dance that Heidi and I think Musa did, and Musa and Natalie in Contemporary, and pretty much anything Donyelle and Benji did together. I don't want to see anyone else voted off.

For a pretty decent site on the show and pics of the contestants, check out FOX's So You Think You Can Dance.

Hangin' out
I haven't been blog hopping in a while because between the heat and my menstrual cramps these last couple of days have been terrible. Actually, my cramps are worse than the heat. I don't have an appetite, my back hurts, I feel sick and yes, I have bad cramps. Ugh.

I've been reading and I was supposed to post the books I'm currently reading in my sidebar, but, alas, I haven't felt like it.

I hope everyone is doing fine and staying cool. We've had rain in the middle of the night, which is okay because that cools the air---for a little while then it's back to humidity city.

Also, I may have mentioned this before, but have you ever been to cute overload? Seriously, you have to go there every once in a while. You won't believe the cuteness. Example:

Speaking of cuuuuuute pets, watch out for yours in this heat. Give them plenty of water. I saw this idiot with his dog on a leash while he was riding a skateboard and the poor dog had to keep up. Stupid jerk ass. I put water out for little homeless cats too. Be mindful that dogs and cats and birds get hot and thirsty too!

{okay PSA done}

See you guys on the flip side!

'Virgin' didn't give me a fun first time

I watched (or tried) to watch the 40-year-old Virgin a couple days ago. I believe I can honestly say it was the worse movie I have ever seen, and I've seen plenty of bad movies. I'm sure you know this movie as it was wayyyy overhyped, but the gist is that the lead character is, well, a 40-year-old virgin and when his friends find out they decide it's time he bed a woman.

The advice of one of them? "Make sure she's drunk. Really drunk, like can't walk, vomit in her hair and take her home." I'm paraphrasing, but that was essentially what one of his friends tells him to do when they go out. Yeesh. Just one of the reasons I hate this movie is that the men act like 16-year-olds. I already saw American Pie people! I mean, these are grown men acting like they're out for a grand deflowering or something.

Even worse, Andy (Steve Carell) acts as if he has no clue of sex at all. I can understand being nervous, especially as a man who is supposed to 'accomplished' and whatnot. But has he never seen a sexy scene in a movie? On TV? Read a sexy scene in a book? Seen porn? Masturbated? Fantasized? Something? Anything? That's what annoys me. I guess I'm asking for too much. I would have even bought hiring an escort just so he can get it out of the way and not have his first time be clumsy with a girl he actually likes.

When I watched it I realized it was over hyped and not nearly as cool or funny as it was made out to be. I think people thought it was going to be a laugh riot, well, from the title alone made some people go see it. But it wasn't even funny. And honestly, a 40-year-old virgin isn't that funny either.

Time for that vacation to Antarctica
I was having a hard time emotionally last night. I couldn't sleep and I couldn't stop my mind from racing around my money worries. It was hard to get comfortable.

It was hot but my air conditioner helped. Today is reaching 100 degrees! I think it's time to visit the penguins and the polar bears. Yes, it's been that hot.

Downtown all you want to do is go into one air conditioned store after another. LOL

I want everyone to keep cool and please send some positive thoughts my way, I can use them.

(My avatar may look crazy, but 100 degrees is crazier. I hope it makes you cool when you look at it. heh)

Five Ways for Friday Fun!
Hey guys, not much to say. I just wanted to wish everyone a good weekend and ask a question. What five ways (or things) will make your Friday or weekend in general the most fun ever?

Here's my five:

1. A job offer
2. A sundae with all the trimmings (minus the chocolate)
3. That publishers cleraring house I got in the mail for $1,000,000? If it were FOR REAL!
4. A marathon of Buffy, Angel or The Simpsons.
5. A big, giant, soft, fluffy bed. My bed's okay, but I like reading in the bed so I want the most comfy possible. I guess it's kinda lame I like reading in the bed and that I'm not doing other things. But I'm lucky when I get lucky. heh.

Thanks! Be safe and stay cool (it was in the 90's here. Arggggh!)

Here are the answers to the trivia questions of my last blog post. We are the Champions...Or not
I like to consider myself a Pop Culture guru. Me and my sister took the Entertainment Weekly Pop Culture Quiz and did pretty good. There is now a VH1 World Series of Pop Culture Competiton where the winning prize is $250,000. Just for answering a few questions about The Simpons, The Princess Bride and who was the first Rap artist to have a number one album? I say count me in!

I'd like to compete, but I know I'll never make it to the show, but I love Pop culture nonetheless and think I'd be able to make it fairly far in the game. I have two Pop Culture quizzes if you'd like to try your own hand at pop culture knowledge:

pop culture quiz 1
pop culture quiz 2

If you take one let me know how you did. But even if you don't, do you consider yourself pop culture-ly talented? Hmmm,Do you know who stole Kimberly's baby on Melrose Place?

1.What's the name of the beer Homer can't do without?
2.Run DMC sang about which brand of shoe?
3.What did Buffy's headstone read?
4.What movie had this tagline "His whole life was a million to one shot" ?
5.In Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, what do the girls (Mira Sorvino, Lisa Kudrow) claim to have invented at their high school reunion?
6.What is the name of Tom Skerritt and Sigourney Weaver's deep-space mining ship in 1979's Alien?
7.How many Nightmare on Elm Street movies are there?
8.What is the name of the fictional television pilot that Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) has filmed in Pulp Fiction?
9.In Minority Report, the genetically altered humans who can foresee crimes are called?
10.Listening to Chicago's ''Cell Block Tango,'' what are the six keywords repeatedly sung by the merry murderesses?
11.In Dirty Dancing, what is Baby's real name?
12.What were the three simple rules for taking care of a Mogwai in 1984's Gremlins?
13.This quote is from what movie "Why, she wouldn't even harm a fly?"
14.In Gladiator, what is Russell Crowe's character's full name?
15.In Fatal Attraction what does Glenn Close boil in a pot on Michael Douglass' stove?
16.In the movie Heathers, what was the name of the one Heather not named Heather?
17.Name all the member of the rock band Duran Duran.

Of course I'm not asking, but anyone that answers all of these correctly I'll do a Blog Feature of your blog. (I'll post the answers in my next post)

Slow Thursday
Just as I was continuing to not feel like blogging I came and saw 15 comments. Sniff. It felt so nice to have those comments, especially when I used to crave even one. The notion made me want to blog about something, even if it is boring. Today was slow. I spend most of my days checking online job sites and doing other little things around the house. I have yet to get up and exercise like I keep saying I should do while I have the time. Ugh, excercising sucks.

I started my novel again, but I told you that already. I managed to salvage some stuff from the last time I started. I think I had writers block for a while. Suddenly I just really felt like writing. There's no other better feeling than writing when you really want too. I love it.

I hope everyone had a fine 4th of July. Mine was nice. I went to my moms. My aunt BBQ'd and then my mom decided to BBQ after she finished, taking over the grill and we ended up staying out there all day. She didn't plan that, just a few more ribs and chicken and that turned into an 8 hour ordeal. LOL but it was fun, it was a nice day.

Well, that's all she wrote. More when I have something interesting to say. Take care!

I'll bring the potato salad
Well, not only have I not felt like blogging, I haven't had anything to say. Comm Ed came and cut the tree off our wires. Yea! I went to The Cheesecake Factory with a few friends for a friends birthday. That was pretty much the highlight of my week. Rather than blab on with nothing to say, I just decided to wish everyone a VERY HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Enjoy yourselves, B-B-Que, hang out, fire off some fireworks, or whatever. I'm just wishing you well.

Also, my blog title is taken from, believe it or not, this Sesame Street skit where the King is having a picnic and everyone brings the same food several times, then finally they figure out that if they make a plan and assign items they get a variety. So, The King issues out dishes and tells someone 'You bring the potato salad!' and the guy goes, 'you got it King!' (this is all done in song mind you) I know you're scratching your heads, but it was funny and I still remember it. Maybe you had to be there. I used it since it's barbecue season and people have potato salad....oh never mind.
