Summer has finally launched on us. It was HOT here today and it felt really nice. Although, while my bedroom feels like 90 degrees this post will be short. First, sorry to my reader(s), I haven't been by in a while and I miss you guys. I hate when I stop by and there are 5 and 6 posts that I have missed commenting on. *bad gunngirl*
I haven't been up to much of anything. I am thinking of taking a couple days off in the next two or three weeks. I need them. I just need a second to do what I want to do...which is write. I know, I know, I've said it all before. I'm gonna be 70 before I write this fucking book. Hell, at this point I don't even care about publishing, just can I get it finished already?!
I was reading this post by EH about wasting time on the internet and I thought, 'That's me!' LOL
Seriously, I waste vast, oceans of time, acres of time in which we can plant crops on the internet. Unfortunately, I have re-opened my X-Files obsession with the new movie coming out and all. My obsession was bad before, but now watching music videos, interviews and show bloopers on YouTube has taken up all my spare moments. Seriously. When I'm not doing that I'm fooling around in iTunes or on Television Without Pity (TwOP) another TV site. Barring that I'm on blogs, at Amazon.com, email, playing computer games, playing video games, on Netflix or watching TV shows online.
When I'm not online watching X-Files I'm freakin' watching X-Files on DVD and if not that it's Smallville, Supernatural, Buffy, Firefly or La Femme Nikita. Sad, but true. And then my Netflix account also takes up time. I just recently watched "Cloverfield" (crazy and overhyped, but good and scary nonetheless. ) I just don't make the dedicated time to do what I should be doing. Even job hunting has taken a back seat. That is the worst of all.
I feel sad and disappointed about that. I'm in my thirties and have dreaming about writing a novel my whole life. What the fuck am I doing? At any rate, I think I'm going to just to the library one day and just brainstorm. Just dedicate some time to myself and work on it. What's holding me up, besides the procrastination, is that I waver on what the story/plot is and I hate that. I know what I want, but I don't know how to get there. Grrr Arrgh!
Okay, it's getting past my bedtime. I'm gonna go. So, not that any of you will, or even want too, but I have done this with a couple other bloggers. If you ever want to drop me a line, or bug me about a post or, (Wow!) ask when I'm gonna post something new you can email me. I do that from time to time with a couple bloggers. It's nice.

| One book at a time |
I love Borders bookstores and books in general. I have so many that I don't even read. Sigh, it's actually very sad. I have read several in our city book club One Book, One Chicago and am currently reading "The Long Goodbye" by Raymond Chandler. I just started, but it's not bad. I am actually hoping that this will spur me to write my own damn book. I have my idea, I have my theme, but I just need to get going.
My problem now? Where should I set the story. I contemplate creating a fake city/town but decided against it. I'm thinking about just using Chicago since I live here and it might be easier to use real places. I think the city is also versatile enough that if I need a country like setting, lots of open land, etc. I can do it without completely lying. My story deals with horror and vampires and there's some part of me that thinks it will seem stupid in a city environment. I think of L.A. as the setting for Angel and it just works so well. Hmmm, note to self : You're a writer dammit! Make it work!
Okay, I will. Thanks self!
See you guys soonLabels: books, weekend, writing |

| Out with the old in with the new |
I hope everyone had a nice New Year, mine was okay. I wasn't feeling well on new year's eve, so I had only one Margarita and then I called it quits. I'm trying to fix my blog with new images and whatnot but it is not going the way I want.
My plans for the new year are the same ones I had last year, lol, lose weight and get back into writing and find a better job. Nothing new there.
I really should get back into writing, that is when I'm happiest. I MUST do that. That is my dream. Sigh, I can't let it die. Working in photoshop and trying to get a new design sucks! It is harder than I expected and the tutorials I find on the internet are not helping. I guess I'll have something new by 2009. I also wanted to start a new Buffy/Angel site like I used to have. I know, BtVS is over and done with. Not in my book! :)
At any rate, it's 11:30 p.m. here and I'm too tired to think of anything else to gripe about. See you all later.Labels: blogging, writing |

| Let the job search commence |
Some shit went down at work and one of the attorney's is gunning for me. Nothing new, actually, but seriously. I am getting the hell outta there. I'm surprised I lasted this long. I hope to be by the end of January of next year. I will keep my fingers crossed. I do NOT want to be there this time in 2008.
I am so ready for the weekend!
I have no plans for the weekend. I leave early on Monday for a doctor's appointment and I'm going to take this weekend and that early day to work on my resume and get my fax machine working. Yep, but get on that road to GTFO officially titled Get The Fuck Out.
*************
I am seriously starting to work on my book again. If I ever get published, then I can die happy. But, damn! Can I even get a fucking manuscript written yet? I'm working on it. I need to seriously sit in a quite place, think, organize and write. I can't go down that road of begin to write, get lost, go off on a tangent and end up not finishing anything. It's too hard to start over.
That's about all the news I have for now. I have been faithfully buying and reading Season 8 Comic of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm enjoying it. I think it is giving me inspiration to write.
I learned today that the Harry Potter Movies have grosed $4.5 billion dollars, more than ALL SIX star wars movies! and 22 James Bonds making it the highest grossing movie franchise ever. HOLY SHIT! I'd kill the Pope to be J.K. Rowling.
Sigh :(
Anyway, enjoy your weekend!Labels: Buffy, job, weekend, writing |

| Writers Write, dammit |
I had a post some time ago about buckling down and writing. I have yet to do that. But I have been thinking about it, honest! Basically I am going to do like Joss Whedon, the genius behind my beloved Buffy and plot out my entire book, like he does for an entire season of BtVS. I am going to get a notebook and create my characters, create the plot, enemies, people I'm going to kill, the highs, the lows and finally the ending. I'm going to do this because without it I will do what I have been doing for years, go off on a tanget, start changing things and never get anything finished.
I still have dreams about changing the world with my book like Ms. J.K. Rowling and don't know where to start. Hmm, to do what hasn't been done before--or a fresh twist on something knew. Wow, that's hard! LOL. Brain? start grinding.
*******
On a dancing note, I'm happy that Danny, Neil and Lacey made it into the finals on "So You Think You Can Dance" If I had my way, I'd make them all winners.
*******
On a weather note, it finally cooled down here. Yea! I thought I was going to melt a couple of days ago. Ugh!
On a completely unrelated note our stove went kerplooey and we need a new one. I really don't need this unexpected expense, but I'm glad I found some pretty affordable ovens. Whew!
*******
Last but not least, on another Buffy note, I have been looking for the first issue in the Buffy, the Vampire Slayer Season Eight comic, and have been scared to see it online for up to $100. It's the first issue and it's hard to find now and people are cashing in. I did however find it in a comic book store downtown and they will hold it for me. Now I won't have to pay the pricey shipping on a site I finally found it on. Perfect.Labels: Buffy, so you think you can dance, writing |

| Harry the Great |

Tried as I might to escape the H.P Madness I couldn't---even at work. There were attorney's carrying the book around! The only reason I'm posting about Harry Potter is because I had serious, almost depressing thoughts about J.K. Rowling and how she single handedly took over the world. There were people scrambling for this book in Tel Aviv for God's sake!
She used to be a Welfare Mom and is now a household name, richer than dirt, and has 10-year-olds and 45-year-olds alike reading the same book -- and not getting enough! She has kids carrying aorund a 700+ page novel and eagerly doing so. All because of a Wizard named Harry.

I just started thinking about how I wish I had created Harry, or better yet, any character (of my own orgin) that would make people cry if they couldn't get a copy of it, that made people pre-order copies, talk incessantly about characters, get depressed about the end of the series or anticipate the next installment with the passion of parents awaiting their first born.
I have not read the books, but I will now. I have too. I have to know the writing of someone who has captivated children and adults alike. I can only dream of putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and come up with a character even a third as thrilling and enjoyable as Harry or even Ron and Hermoine. Oh well. I must keep writing and I must find that character (and story and plot) for myself.
Some day. *sigh* Some day.Labels: harry potter, writing |

| Mid Week Mood |
I haven't been up to much. I'm trying to get my Mojo back and get back into writing. I'm going to be 90 by the time I finish my damn book. I am not the writer I should be. I have yet to carefully plan out my plot, the characters, the story, events and locals.
It's not writers block, or even procrastination. I don't know what it is. Actually, I think it's just the simple fact that I don't know what kind of story I want to tell. Any originality is sorely lacking. There's a trillion and one books featuring Vampires, and most are crap. Out of that trillion, 4 are readable.
I want a dark story, I want a lead character with darkness and light, I want her to be a hero, but flawed and fighting her own personal battles. I want her to be special, but not really know that she is. I want her to be supernatural, but I have yet to figure out just how to introduce that. I want her to be born with this skill, but there needs to be a reason why she is born with this skill.
Initially I was going to be having her working for this organization that fought demons, but that is edging too close to my Beloved and well watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (er, Homage anyone?)
There are somethings I have worked out, but other (big important ones like, oh, I don't know, like THE PLOT!) are doomed.
I've been to square one so many times it's starting to look like a circle.
Oh well. One of these days, Alice. One of these days.Labels: novel, writing |
