Checking in |
I went out after Thanksgiving for the crazy holiday shopping. I got up at 3:30 a.m. called my sister but couldn't get her up, so I fell back asleep and we ended getting out a little after 6. Anyway, I'm glad because we didn't need to be out that early. I got what I went out for, I got X-Men for $8.99, total recall and Natural Born Killers for $2.99. I also bought a Wiinnie the Pooh mug for my mom and the first season of Monk for her for christmas. I think I ended up spending a little over $100 but I got some good deals so I'm not bitter.
I put the christmas tree but it's not decorated, but at least it's up. I got sick over the break and am still sick. I left work today at 1pm and went back home and got back in the bed, I was so happy to leave early. My office manager said I had a sick day I didn't have to come in at all, but I did want to get some work done, it's starting to pile up and it's just too much on me. I'm delaying a lot of stuff I got a while ago and I want to get it done before they start asking me about it, but I can't get to it! You should see my desk. Argh!
How are you guys? I hope you're doing okay, I haven't even had to time to blog a bit at work, I've been lazy and not doing it at home either, mainly because I'm sick of my slow dial up, I gotta get out of the stone age. Ugh.
I want a new cell phone and I'm looking into it. I'm tired of my Go phone and buying those minutes, I think I'm spending more on minutes than it would be if I had a plan. But I don't know what kind of phone I want to get, but I think that's going to be a Christmas present to myself.
We're getting to the end of the week! Whooo hooo! I need the weekend again. I need more bed rest.
I had some other news but I forgot it, damn. I hate when I think 'hmm, I'm gonna post this on my blog' then I forget.
We've been getting a lot of rain, and now snow is coming. Yeah, I just can't wait. *eye roll*
Later guys. |

Ready to Shop? |
Not everywhere is having great deals, but if you're like me and you like sales, though I don't think I'm that great of a bargain hunter as my sister has told me. I don't think I really see a good deal unless it's a REALLY great deal.
Anyway, I love my DVD's as you know, and have a raincheck to get Season 3 of Smallville for $14.99. Unfortunetly on Black Friday this friday I learned that Season 4, (which I bought for $30.00) is going to be at Best Buy for $9.99! Argggggh! Oh well.
Anyway, if you have a shopping itch check out bf.com (blackfriday.com) or just type in Black Friday into google and you should get a list of sites that will tell you what's going to be on sale now so you can get geared up and know where you want to hit in the wee hours of the morning. Circuit city is have select movies for $2.49 and stuff like that and Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy for $8.99.
I plan on hitting Circuit City, Best Buy and Target. Maybe not a 5am, but somewhere around there because everything will be gone early probably.
Well, most of you probably won't be online tommorow, so I want to say HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING! Whatever you do, make it fun! (((hugs))) See you guys later! |

Washed up and Racist |
If you don't know by now, one of the big news stories (Besides Katie and Tom's wedding which will get its own post) is the racially fueled tirade by Michael Richards, otherwise known as 'Kramer' on Seinfeld. As one of the biggest Seinfeld fans you'll know, I have several different emotions about him personally and now the show.
Can I watch the show again and not think of his outburst? Can I laugh at Kramer's stupidity in the same way? Can I enjoy all my DVD's that I have paid money for and now don't even want to watch? I don't know. I'll not pull my words in this post as I give those the gist of what happened if you haven't heard.
Michael was doing a comedy bit at The Laugh Factory a pretty well known and hot spot for comedians in West Hollywood. Supposedly he wasn't all that funny in the first place and according to Richards' he was being heckled by some black members in the audience or, by other sources, they were just talking to each other and ignoring him thus interrupting his bit.
Michael blows his top and just goes on and on calling them "Niggers" repeatedly. He makes a reference that if this were 50 years ago they'd be hanging from a tree with a "fork up your ass" and so on. He tries to be funny and make a joke shouting and pointing "It's a Nigger, it's a Nigger!" over and over.
Most of the audience is visably confused, disgusted and upset and proceeds to walk out. The people he heckled gets up and shouts back "That was uncalled for!" which it was, and Richards' says "Well, that's what you get when you interrupted the man or something like that.
I can not believe what happened and you can watch the video here and judge for yourself.
Personally, I feel that this hatred was deep inside and his apology on David Letterman was an apology of 'I'm sorry that my racist ways were caught on tape in a moment of uncontrolled anger. Damn."
I don't think you 'accidently' slip and call someone a Nigger unless you really feel that way and you really feel all the hate and digust that people felt when they (white people) used that word against black people.
As a black person I am appalled, but I also feel that his outburst was fuled by his his own racism and also the fact that he hasn't been seen doing anything successful outside of "Seinfeld" and he's back to doing standup and wasn't getting any respect doing that. He can no longer ride on his Kramer fame and he's washed up now.
Now, I am not condoning or defending what he did, none of that justifies what he said and it was uncalled for and to go on and on and to think that he would someone get a laugh out it was insane.
He took out his anger and frustration on some audience members and let loose how he really felt.
I have to actually get to work now, but I had to sneak a second for this post because I couldn't let the day go by without posting. I don't have the David Letterman appearance, in which Jerry Seinfeld was on the show, probably to promote the release of the Season 7 DVD's and asked Letterman if Richards could come on to apologize.
Now, will Jerry be pissed that Richard's probably hurt some DVD's sales? I know he's thinking that. I mean, the show may lose ratings now. All this fucked up.
Take care everyone. Any other info check out TMZ.com |

It's The Final Countdown! |
To use the title of a horrible song by the band Europe I'm counting down the days before Thanksgiving, which I still can't believe is only several days away--literally. I'm all ready for the shopping after Thanksgiving. Target already had my loved Smallville DVD's for only $14.44 each. That is really cheap, I mean, they go for $49.99 regular, you can't beat that.
I also want to thank all you guys for being supportive in my horrible job days. Yes, I bitched, but surprisenly it got better. It's still a crappy job sometimes, but it's not bad other times and when I get to the bottom line I'm happy to be working. But I don't plan on staying forever, and I know my netx stop will be my last. Ugh, I hate job hopping and job searching. Now that I know what I'm doing, it's fine and I have learned not to panic when I get a whole lot of work, I just push that shit to the side, do what's important and don't worry about trying to get it all done in 6 minutes. All that stress wasn't worth it.
Also, there is a bit of hoopla over the secret nuptials of Tom and Katie and I can't believe I'm falling into the gossip. I think out of the people I talk to I'm the only Katie Holmes fan. I think she's nice and can look very adorable and pretty at times. No, she's not volunteering her time to Africa AIDS research, so I know for most people it's like 'why love her, what's she doing?' but I still like her.
Would I trade places with her? You know, I think I would have had Tom not gotten into all that Scientology crap. I can't deal with someone who's really religious or have beliefs that are so damn straight and narrow. In some ways, hell yes I'd love to be on my way to my Rome wedding to Tom Cruise (Are you kidding!?) but I think he 's a little off his rocker in some ways and I'd disagree with some things.
But in the end....Wedding in Rome? Tom Cruise? Millionaire? Not having to work? A pretty baby? With nanny? In the spotlight?
Let me think....Yep, I'd trade places. LOL!
Take care you guys, and I hope to fix my blogroll with broken links and whatnot. Sorry! I'll be around soon and before Thanksgiving. |

One minute break |
I'm taking a moment away from working to post. I don't really like posting at work, I guess I'm paronoid about someone finding my blog in the favorites or something.
At any rate, the office has been okay, but there has been a lot of hierarchy type of stuff going around and me and a friend of mine don't like it. I only plan on staying here, probably until the end of next year, then I'm moving on. I don't want to do anymore Reception type of work, I'm tired of answering phones and stuff like that. This job is just paying the bills.
We're all seperated here: attorneys, secretaries, legal assistants, secretarial assistants, receptionists, etc. I certainly did not plan on being in the Receptionist field forever, and I think that's how a lot of people end up in some of the jobs they have, they get one like that, then that's all you know how to do unless you put on the breaks and really go off into another direction.
Ahh well, what can you do.
Alas, "Apolo" stopped by, only briefly, but he smiled and said hi and bye. Man, he's sweet and so hot. I think it will help me get through these next three hours.
Take care everyone! |

Once upon a time... |
There was a girl named Gunngirl who used to post regularly. Whew! I can't believe that I can't seem to get back here and post, and I really like posting and visting you guys. This weekend I got back into The Sims, but it was crashing like crazy so I couldn't even enjoy that. So, that sucked.
I planned on cleaning up my bedroom, I sorta did that. I did enjoy my rest and sleeping, I like to sleep, no matter how dorky that may seem. My mom told me she wanted to order a pre-cooked turkey dinner and was asking me about it. I told her she'd better get on it.
Can you believe how fast that holiday is sneaking up on us? It is in a freaking week and a half! I am SOOOOOOOOOOO going to enjoy that time off.
I also learned today that our office does a "Grab Bag" type of thing for Christmas, and another friend said her office did it and that the limit was supposed to be $25 and she thought that was cheap. She was comparing to $100 that her family does and she said they should at least do $50.
I balked. $50!? For your co-workers?! I can not imaging buying one of my co-workers a $50 gift. That's crazy to me, to spend that much. What if you pick someone you don't even talk too or don't even like? That's just insane.
Anyway, I'm going to start digging out christmas decorations this weekend.
Until next time...you guys take care! |

Don't Tip the Waiter! |
The blog post title is from a vintage board game from the early 80's I had where the waiter would hold up a tray and he'd be able to wobble back and forth and you had to stack little cardboard 'food' on his tray and the one who made him drop anything would lose, while the one who stacked the most won. Too much info? Just wanted to give you some backstory on the title is all, and mostly because that was one of my fav games as a youngun, I played it often with my sister.
Now, on to the meat of the post. I went to Applebees today because my mom wanted to go to Walmart, so I decided to tag along for company. Before you can say, Applebees? Why, god whyyyyyyy? or 'What were you thinking?' or 'I can't be friends with you anymore' I have to add that there was no where else to eat near Walmart, besides the food court in the mall across the street, thus sealing our fate for Applebees since they at least serve you.
Well, the restaurant is really nice and cozy. Plenty of crap on the walls, nice booths, nice TV's, etc. But our waiter was not worthy. He was nice enough, but he never brought us water, we almost had to trip him several times to get drinks, bread, and what have you.
I don't know about you, but I get plenty irky when I don't get my water refilled, not just because I drink a lot of water, but because I usually don't order a drink, either liquer or pop and so water is my drink and when I finish one glass then I don't have anything else to drink, so then I'm angry.
He never once asked us how we were doing and the food was okay to say the least. We both had sirloin steaks, but my mom got ribs with hers and I got salmon. The salmon was good if they hadn't put all this honey sauce crap all over it like it was steak. It's fish people!
At an rate, my mom said just leave him $2 for a tip, which is my normal rate. Cheap? Probably, but I think you should tip according to service.
I know, I know, waitstaff makes shit, and I'm not saying they have to shine my shoes, or do a dance for my entertainment, but I want to feel like you haven't forgotten about me and I don't want to have to flag down the waiter for EVERYTHING
Listening to the radio a couple of days ago they were talking about tipping and that on a bill of about $30 for one person a 20% tip was six dollars. Isn't that a lot of money for a tip? I feel that tipping just because it's standard or whatever is bullshit and I wholly feel that tipping is optional.
I always tip, but I tip what I want, and only once did I want to tip less than a dollar, but out of pressure I just gave a dollar when my sister was ready to give a quarter in this Chinese restuaurant we went to where the Dim Sum was a miniscule selection, cold and overpriced.
Still, I tipped.
Do I feel embarassed spending $40 or more and tipping no more than $4? No. What do you think? As always, I want to hear from my fans, and by fans I mean those of you bored enough to stop by here every now and then. Heh. What's your take on tipping? Let me know I'm not alone! Or set me straight, whichever you choose.
I hope to do a midweek blog. (Jeeze! is it back to Monday already!?) Take it easy everyone, especially Beady with her Baby in tow, and I'll try and see you guys later.

Now....on to Christmas |
With Halloween out of the way and officiall kicked to the side, Christmas has rolled on in. I went to Target today and right next to the aisle with all the marked down Halloween stuff was the Christmas trees, decorations, ornaments and lights. It was just a bit funny because now you can start spending your money on yet more decorations. Heh.
Thanksgiving is skipped over, until the day after when sales start for, again, Christmas. I was out today much longer than I intended. I was in Target for over two hours, I bought some marked down goodies. They had $7.99 bags of candy for a $1 LOL, I didn't buy any though, but I did buy an assorted bag of Kit Kats for $1.24 I think it was originally like $5.99 or something. They had bags of Snicker mini's for $.52. But you can only eat so much candy.
I just wanted to stop by and blog, I haven't been here in days. I'm soo sleepy. I intend so post some pics sometime, I hope some time this week.
Also, I seem to have lost the link to Mr. Fab's new blog, so if anyone can direct me, I'm gratefuf for it.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone! |
